The Pizza Shop Donates a Percentage of Sales One Night Per Month to Local Schools

Once per month, The Pizza Shop, a local pizza restaurant in Yorktown, partners with Seaford Elementary and York Middle Schools and donates 10 percent of one night's net sales to each school. The schools each have their own special night and this is just one of the many projects that The Pizza Shop takes part in to give back to the community. They also participate in the Relay for Life and St. Baldrick's Foundation for children with cancer. In addition, The Pizza Shop has been a Langley race car sponsor for more than five years.

The Pizza Shop is well-known around the neighborhood for its New York-style pizza. The delicious pizzas are topped with fresh seasoned sausages, beef and fresh vegetables, and cooked in real brick ovens at 650 degrees. New York-style pizza is  very popular and customers from out of town often remark that the pizza served at The Pizza Shop tastes just like a slice from their hometown.

“The pizza was the closest thing to real New York-style pizza that I've found since I moved to Virginia,” says Rob Romano, a frequent customer from Brooklyn, NY.

Aside from pizza, the restaurant serves oven-baked chicken wings, their signature Stromboli and a wide variety of other favorites.

“Word of mouth is 85 percent of our business. People drive from Gloucester and Hampton because they know that they are going to get the best food and best service,” says Brian Betts, owner of The Pizza Shop. “And if there is ever an issue, they know that they will be taken care of.”
