Roadwork to affect George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge on Jan. 27

The Virginia Department of Transportation has reported a road closure that will affect George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge (Route 17 South) in Yorktown.

The road will have one lane closed from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.

According to a press release, "The single-lane closures are necessary to allow crews to perform electrical-mechanical work to the bridge. The bridge will remain fully operational throughout the work; however, in addition to the single-lane closure, there will be two traffic stops southbound of up to 45 minutes each to allow crews to reposition equipment. Additional lane closures and traffic stops are planned for Sunday, March 17, Sunday, May 5 and Sunday, June 16. More information about the lane closures will be provided in advance of the work."
